Drug use among teenagers is a continuous problem for numerous reasons. Adolescents will result to drug use for the satisfaction of stresses or depression, rebellion, social acceptance, and media influence. Despite the well-known consequences youths continuously use illegal substances and eventually become so engulfed they are addicted. The choices these teens make will affect their lives and the lives of the people around them forever. These influences are hard to overcome without the help of another, and that is why one may resort to using a narcotic if there is no help to turn to. Drug addiction has to start at some point in time or another and it usually starts during the adolescent stage of life especially through the middle adolescent stage. Friends, family, and role models all affect the way a person thinks and acts. Belonging to a group and having an identity is the most important role of a teenager, so then that individual will take on the identity of that particular group whether they do drugs or some other activity. The activity taken on by the group is their bond between each other and is hard to break or else they have nothing in common. Also, are teens always looking for somebody to look up to and if their role model, be an actor or athlete, does illegal substances, the adolescent will think it is the right thing to do...
