The verdict is read. The jurors concur. The infamous prisoner Charles Darnay is sentenced to death by La Guillotine within 24 hours. This is just one of the many escapades of this former aristocrat in Charles Dickens's Epic A Tale of Two Cities. Charles Darnay is man with many themes presented in his complex character. Three important aspects to his character are his name, his relationship to Carton and his marriage to Lucie Manette. These three parts of Darnay's personality define his individuality in the story and his importance to the novel as a whole.
