Company Background
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. was founded in Japan in 1933 and has since demonstrated a commitment to innovation. The Nissan Datsun was the first mass-produced Japanese vehicle, and in 1959 the first Datsun compact pickup was sold in America. The Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A (NMC) was established in Gardena, California in 1960. The 1970's proved to be significant for Nissan when in 1971, annual sales in the United States passed the quarter million mark, and in 1973, the one-millionth Datsun vehicle was sold in the United States.
