Imagine living in a time of tyranny and tragedy resulting from one mans ambition to be eminent. Now imagine that you are that man. During Macbeth there are several changes in Macbeth's mental state. However at the beginning of the play he is a brave, powerful and trusted man. Throughout the play Macbeth faces many conflicts with his conscience. Macbeth's ambition, guilt and self-doubt all play a role in the breakdown and final destruction. Although, Macbeth is portrayed as a courageous warrior and hero at the beginning, his ambitions lead to the downfall and total destruction by his haunting conscience. These horrifying experiences lead Macbeth fully committed to evil because he felt like he could not go back and change what he has done. In this essay I will show the breakdown of Macbeth and what finally happens to him.
