While living in Vegas, I learned the meaning of the city that never sleeps. There were lots of lights, noise, and people everywhere. It was not until my later years that I learned many other facts. They are about its history, its entertainment industry, and its surroundings.
In 1829, Spanish explorers discovered Las Vegas, meaning "the meadows". In 1851, Fort Union was built to protect the now famous Santa Fe Trail. The first known settlers were the Mormons.
