Complex thinkers John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau ideas influenced many during the 18th century Enlightenment. Their ideas spread throughout Europe like wildfire and eventually made its way into the French Revolution. There ideas reflect on the French Revolution, especially when they write the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizens.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau had made political ideas in his book The Social Contract. This book had two very advanced forms of ideas with people and politics. One of Rousseau's ideas was the thought that political power rests with the people. This idea is known as popular sovereignty. With this power is expressed by the concept of the general will, which was his other idea. The general will is all about the will of the people, the will of the people must be obeyed. This isn't necessarily the majority of the people's ideas, but it is used to dictate who they claim that, not by passing majority, represent the general will...
