A Semiotic Analysis of the Super bowl
Many men gather around their TV's, drink beer and snacking on chips. They shout and cuss at the screens that display one of the most important events in American culture the super bowl. While watching this event they can feel the testosterone pouring from the television and overcoming its viewers. From the playing field, to the commercials, the thoughts of power, strength and sex are the main focus of attention. This event called the super bowl has turned into a holiday where people put aside there daily Sunday activities like mowing the lawn, so they can view at some of the most offensive material to ever hit our screens. Though the super bowl America defines its attitude toward male and women very clearly. The super bowl is a holiday, which is heavily geared towards masculinity. The values centered on this event are arrogant and chauvinistic; these values are of power strength and sex. These three values show a lack of morals in today's pop culture.
