Violence is all over the media today, you can find it in the daily news, music, newspapers, video games and television. Children are easily influenced by what they view, which is why violence on television negatively affects the way children behave. For example take Beavis and Butt-head, Eminem singing about killing his mom and the mother of his daughter and the video game Grand Theft Auto Vice City. These are just a few examples that have a negative affect on children.
All too often today, we hear about children committing some crime which is frequently media-related. In other words, children can be influenced by watching the mannerisms of characters on television, and feel that their actions are part of every day life; the way the characters act, speak, and handle situations tells children that is okay to behave this way. MTV's "Beavis & Butt-head" helps to give the idea to children that everything they do is okay and that this behavior is normal. MTV gives kids the idea that it is acceptable for anyone to copy the acts of these two characters, who often commit obstructive and harmful acts.
Children who watch shows with violence that is realistic, repeated or unpunished are more likely to copy what they see. Bevis and Butt-head are always up to something; whatever they want to do, children may also do...
