Animal Experimentation
How are the cures for headaches, upset stomachs, and pains approved? They are approved by trying several different tests on animals; these methods are called animal experimentations. Animals are killed everyday in animal experimentation and less than two percent of human illnesses are ever seen in testing ("Does Animal Testing Help Human Medicine? 33 Facts to Consider."). Though there are many laws to protect animals used in experiments, there are not enough to keep them from harm or death, and society should be aware of ways to stop animals from being mistreated.
The first actual written law to regulate animal experimentation was written in 1876. The 1876 Cruelty to Animals Act was passed in Great Britain. This law was originally a weak bill which almost passed in 1875 (USDA). The Animal Welfare Act was passed in 1966...
