Why do contemporary teens sometimes find reading difficult? I believe the teenagers find reading difficult for many different reasons. I think that part of the reason that teenagers find reading difficult is total lack of imagination. Culture packs them full of action packed images and movies so much they don't know what to do when it is left up to them to create the image for themselves. Simply turning on a TV or popping in a DVD is much less work then reading a novel and constructs everything for them.
I also believe that another reason is why read the book when I can watch the movie? So many great books have been made into movies that teenagers don't have to read the books. Watching a movie only takes 2-3 hours when reading a book can take up to 2-3 months! Teenagers have a lot to juggle with school, sports, and friends and not to mention parents. Reading is simply an effort not willing to be put forth by the everyday teen...
