Let It Pour Case Analysis
The case analysis is on a hospital with many issues ranging from costs, number of patients, staff's beliefs, and many others. On the first day of Chris' job as an assistant to the chief executive officer of Faith Community Hospital, Chris was given the task to identify major issues at the hospital for an upcoming meeting with the board of directors. Chris was informed of the hospital's mission statement besides other background information on the hospital. The cost to treat a patient has increased from the prior year while the number of patients treated was decreasing. Other issues included staff not wanting to follow certain wishes from the patient's family to staff invoking their own beliefs in treating certain patients.
Problem Identified
After using the fishbone tool to identify the root causes of the problem, I have determined the problem at hand is that while the number of patients being treated at the hospital are decreasing, the costs to treat each patient has increased 10.5% from last year's number. The hospital must try to reduce the costs by at least 10% while increasing the patient population on an annual basis by 5%.
