Woody Hayes: A Controversial Coach
Do people know who had a college football record of 238-72-10 in the Big Ten, and won two national championships (Hayes, Woody 1)? That would be Woody Hayes, coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although he had a great football record and is one of the is one of the most winning coaches ever. He is considered one of the game's most controversial coaches for some of his teaching techniques, ethics, and especially his temper. Even though most people did not believe in his methods and also believed he was very aggressive and disturbed, he also helped many of the people he knew.
Woody Hayes childhood was a pretty much normal one. As stated by Paul Hornung in a Reflection of Woody Hayes he was born in Clifton, Ohio on Valentines Day, 1913 (5). He had a very close-knit nurturing family. He had a mother and a father, an older sister, and an older brother (5)...
