Abstract
Wisconsin fast plants (Brassica rapa) are an important model system in biology due to there short life, compact size and ease of culture. The plants were used in this experiment to determine the effects of limited light spectrum on plant growth. Three different colored filters, blue, red, and green, were placed over the plants in the experiment. The height of plants was then observed over a two week period. The Green plants grew the tallest, the plants with the blue filter grew the second tallest, the plants with no filter grew the third tallest, and the plants with the red filter were the shortest.
Introduction
Wisconsin fast plants (Brassica rapa) are an important model system in biology due to there short life cycle of 5-6 weeks, compact size and ease of culture (Darmo,1). The plants were developed for research and educational purposes by Dr. Paul H. Williams, professor of plant pathology at the University of Wisconsin (Darmo, 1). They are often used for teaching the life cycle, growth and development, reproduction genetics, and the physiology and ecology aspects of plant biology...
