The History of the MTV Logo
Logo is defined as a constant name, symbol, or trademark designed for easy recognition. The MTV logo, however, totally contradicts this definition because it is always changing, yet it is still considered a logo. The only thing in the "logo" that remains constant is the well-known "M" with the graffiti-looking "TV" on the right leg. The reason this logo changes all the time is very creative. They say they wanted to change it because the music they play on MTV is always changing. The history of how the MTV logo came to be is like the story of a growing tree. A tiny seed was planted in somebody's head and then it grew and evolved into what it is now.
MTV was launched in August on 1981, yet they didn't have a logo for the now infamous station until 1985. It all started in a small, immature room called Manhattan Design in New York. In that room three graphic designers; Pat Gorman, Frank Olinsky, and Patti Rogoft were trying to make a living...
