The first speaker was Dr. Siddique, he began by the Muslim greeting, “Praise be to Allah, and he who praise him we seek his guidance”; then he told us in depth the importance of the greeting. After the greeting Dr. Siddique began speaking on the meaning of Jihad, which is the armed struggle against oppression, after explaining the correct meaning of Jihad, he talked about the misconceptions and false definitions that people publicized about Jihad and how they were extremely irrational ways of defining the term. Then Dr. Siddique talked about the countries who have the most powerful weapons America, Russia, and Great Britain, he mentioned to us how the media does not point out how those countries have the real majority of weapons of mass destruction and how the media points out Islamic countries and then calls them terrorists countries when they really have no weapons that oppose any real threat but only to defend themselves. Last but not at all least Dr. Siddique spoke on the Islamic Religion based on the Quar’an and Hadith, as he went more in depth he spoke on how the Quar’an states oppression worse than death, and the Hadith states: If you see something wrong stop it with your hand if you cannot stop it by force stop it with your mouth if you cannot do that than consider it bad in your heart. Basically in his speech Dr. Siddique put out of our minds the misconceptions of the Islamic religion and other stereotypes that degrade or vilify people of Islamic descent.
