Jack lives an unfulfilling corporate life, as a recall campaign coordinator for a car company.
He can't sleep.
He becomes addicted to terminal illness support groups, telling them he had whatever disease they were supporting, and he gets his sleep back.
Marla Singer starts going to his support groups. Her lie reflects his lie, and once again, he can't sleep.
As he flies from place to place for his job, he visits a nude beach. He and another man, Tyler Duerden, are the only ones there. This is where they meet...
