"Paul's Case" is about a young man who did not feel that he belonged in his life. He lived on Cordelia Street in Pittsburgh, PA. Cordelia street was littered with cookie cutter houses, and a general aura of despair. Paul felt that his abusive father, uncaring teachers, and classmates who misunderstand him are not worthy of his presence and company. Paul only found peace at work as an usher at Carnegie Hall. The settings in this story are very important. The author is very descriptive. A lot of the details foreshadow things that will happen to Paul. The setting at Paul's school, Paul's house on Cordelia Street, and Carnige Hall are very important.
