General Purpose: To Inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the history and consequences of Title IX in colleges and high schools all across America.
Thesis: Today I will briefly inform you about the history of Title IX, its progress in the United States, and the ways in which it was affected sports programs in high schools and colleges.
Introduction: From age 11-18, I have been involved in wrestling. I wrestled all throughout middle school, and four years varsity for my high school. Wrestling is one of the things that is near and dear to my heart. Like my father, I really looked forward towards the opportunity of someday wrestling in college. When I started looking at college wrestling teams and programs I noticed a very popular trend. There were very little amounts of wrestling programs in the United States. The reason that are very few wrestling programs because of a law passed in 1972. It is called Title IX, and it calls for equal funding for male and female athletics...
