Drama heightens our appreciation of everything from communication to the set?up behind it. Even if the play isn?t acted out, there?s still a requirement to think of wwhat would be needed should it be set up i.e. what sound effects, location, props etc should be used.
The language of a play differes because it?s set up to stimulate talk whether between characters or even in some examples, a character talking to him or herself. While it can be a handy signifier of the language used by the people and at the time and the place of the play, it has to be eloquent enough to be more interesting than listening to two complete strangers chatting...
