Compare contrast Greek and Roman Civilizations
Greek and Roman civilizations both developed at noticeably different rates, as well as very different times in history. There are many differences between Greek and Roman societies yet many values were obtained by the Romans from the Greek culture. The evolution of society today was created through the civilizations of both the Greeks and the Romans.
The Greeks were polytheistic, which means that they believed in many gods. Each Greek city worshiped a local god. They believed that these gods and goddesses would help them live a healthy and prosperous life. They did many things to keep in touch with the gods; they prayed, had festivals, theatre productions and played in the Olympic Games. Great buildings and temples were built to honor the gods. The Parthenon was built for the goddess of wisdom and war, Athena. Oracles were sacred shrines dedicated to Gods or Goddesses who revealed the future...
