Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt was a very strong woman, physically, but mostly emotionally. (She kept a schedule in her seventies that most people in there forties would struggle to maintain.) Emotionally however, Eleanor did struggle. By age ten, she had buried her mother, brother, and father. Growing up, she fought to overcome the feeling of low self worth and shyness established by her grandmother. However, she would never feel totally at ease as a hostess or speaker though she was raised to be a socialite. Eleanor also had an emotionally draining relationship with her husband Franklin Roosevelt. They were more of friends than lovers, business partners more than husband and wife. Nonetheless, Eleanor was devastated at the news of Franklin's love affairs and Franklin often proclaimed his need for her. Together they made an impressive, powerful political team...
