Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
Felix Mendelssohn is one of the most well known Classical composers. He was a revolutionary person from the beginning, a child prodigy. He played violin and piano, and was also a very well founded artist. He has been compared to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Mendelssohn was born in Hamburg, Germany on February 3, 1809. His parents were Abraham Mendelssohn and Leah Salomon. The family moved to Berlin and added the surname Bartholdy because they had switched to Christianity to become more socially accepted. Mendelssohn never used this name. Later, Felix had moved to Paris where he studied the works of Mozart and Bach. He composed eleven symphonies, five operas, and many pieces for the piano...
