The Birth of Biker Gangs
Outlaw biker gangs began to form in the United States in the years immediately following World War II. Feelings of alienation, hostility, and boredom drove some veterans to seek new outlets from the realities of their return to society. For many this new outlet was found in the riding of surplus military motorcycles and the subsequent formation of motorcycle clubs.
The clubs, which were initially concentrated in California, provided the quasi-military camaraderie and structure that many of the disenfranchised veterans desired (Abadinsky). One such club was the "Pissed of Bastards of Bloomington". The P.O.B.O.B...
