Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life (Piven 6.) Autistic children are physically attractive children. It is not possible to diagnose autism until autistic behaviors are present. Most autistic children start out as normal, healthy babies. With most autistic children they simply do not develop the social and communication skills that other children do. in some cases the child will begin to develop normally and then for no apparent reason speech and language will start to decline. The most common behaviors found in autistic people include: repetitive bode movements (hand flappind and rocking), unusual responses to people, and resistance to change in routine. they also may experience agressive and/or self-injurious behaviors and a heightened sense of sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. The cause of autism is unknown, but it is thought that there may be several different causes.
