John Kerry and Vietnam

Lately, many people have questioned presidential candidate John
Kerry's actions during and after the Vietnam War. Kerry, an honored Vietnam
veteran that was wounded three times during his involvement, returned to
America and became a protestor against the war. Critics of Kerry say that he
was playing both sides so he wouldn't look as a complete supporter or opponent
of our involvement in Vietnam. This does seem like a very smart idea for
someone who plans to enter into politics later in their life. But I personally
think that all this speculation is completely off base.
How many people have
you heard of returning from duty in Vietnam and being supportive of what we
were doing? The majority of soldiers who returned home felt troubled and
discontent about our involvement to the point that they became opponents of
the war. Kerry was not "playing both sides", he served his duty for America,
witnessed first hand the horrors of that war, and returned to let America know
how he felt about it. On top of his military service in one the worst
conflicts in America's history, Kerry has lead a successful life as a
politician, a husband, and a father. John Kerry should receive more honors for
his service instead of questions...
