In everyday life someone needs help. For instance, when a child needs help with his or her homework or, an elder person walking across the street, one way or another everyone needs help. You will never know when you are going to need to use CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) on a person.
First, look at the person who needs help. If the person is unconscious and is lying on the floor, look around the person to see if the scene is safe. A scene is the area around the victim, like an office or a pool deck. If the scene is not safe, clear the area to make the scene safe or move the victim to a safe area. Next, go to the victim's side; tap his or her shoulder and shout, "Are you ok? Can you hear me?" If you get no response from the victim, yell or have someone call 911, then begin the "look listen and feel" procedure with your ABC's (Airway, Breathing, Circulation)...
