The Crucible: Reverend Hale
John Hale, a character in The Crucible, symbolizes the kind of people who do something wrong and try to fix it without letting anyone find out he did it. Salem calls for his services because he is known for his study of witchcraft and how to rid of it. They called for him in especially because they have heard of the other practices that he has done and were convinced that he was the one who was going to help them find the witches so that they could be punished. He seemed as if he knew what he was doing because he was interrogating many people and among those people was Abigail, who was able to convince her own uncle of the witchcraft and to convince a stranger would be much easier.
When Reverend Hale first arrived to Salem, he seemed to know a lot. He impressed everyone by telling them how to tell if there was witchcraft or not. He was represented as a very serious character because he got right to the point and asked of all the people who knew of the situation. He seemed to know what he was doing as he was interrogating some of the girls and Tituba.
He arrived to Salem knowing that he was going to find some witchcraft. As the time past, he realized that maybe something other than witchcraft was going on as life after life was being taken...
