Secondly we will discuss the most common type of diabetes which accounts for about ninety-five percent of people diagnosed with diabetes in the United States. This type of diabetes usually occurs in adults over the age of forty. Eighty percent of people with type II diabetes are overweight.
Symptoms of type II diabetes may include fatigue, nausea, frequent thirst and urination, blurred vision, frequent injections of insulin and slow healing wounds.
The third type of diabetes is called gestational diabetes and only occurs during pregnancy. This particular type of diabetes most often occurs in African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, and people with a family history of diabetes. Gestational diabetes disappears after delivery, but puts the mother at risk for type II diabetes later on in life.
Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and now is becoming increasingly common among children and young adults.
Diabetes is not a contagious disease, but certain factors can increase the risk of developing diabetes. Type I diabetes for instance is equally distributed between males and females, but, is more common among whites than non-white individuals than white individuals...
