During the 1600’s many people traveled to America for different reasons, some bad and some good. The way of living in England at this time was not great. There was overpopulation, which led to high unemployment and low wages, which is why indentured servants went to America. Also the slave trade was just beginning and people wanted to escape the “dirty” way of living in England according to the Puritans. As more and more wealthy men from England immigrated to America, there was a need for labor. People needed laborers to work on their crops. The crops ranged from tobacco to rice to cotton and needed to be farmed daily. During this time in England there were many poor and homeless people that were looking for opportunities.
