This book is based on the life experiences of John Wooden and for the first time a Christian application by himself and former player now pastor Jay Carty. The goal of the book is two motivate and inspire while educating through personal experience and scripture reference. John Wooden was the UCLA Basketball coach for over two decades and lead the school to more national championship than any other university. Although many look at is accomplishments on the court as remarkable his real legacy is off of it. The players which he coached rave about his ability to teach them about through basketball.
The book does not focus on one central, but rather condenses many life experiences into one book. This book is unlike many others that might focus on his coaching style or his zone offense it deals completely with life experiences and the way that God played a role in all of them. The idea that is consistent is scripture and how Wooden and Carty are able to apply it to Wooden real life struggles, successes, and disasters. I believe Wooden was trying to reach a different audience than he did with many of his other books. This book is really not about coaching rather spirituality and the role God has in your life and how he is trying to teach through our everyday experiences...
