Author: Jesse Stuart
The author of this book, Jesse Stuart, grew up in the mountains of Kentucky and had a hard life in the beginning. His father was going from job to job doing what he could to provide for the family and his mother did not even graduate elementary school.
Stuart's book "The Thread That Runs So True," is a fictional book with non-fictional influences. Many of the characters and situations in the story fit somewhere in Stuart's life. Stuart was able to really bring out school life in the mountains at the time and show what things were really like. He created a fictional story with almost a real sense. The story sounds as though it could be real and could have happened to someone.
The story starts with the main character or the author, Jesse Stuart, in high school. He is supposed to be going to class but goes in the wrong room and takes a test to become a teacher. He passes the test and is certified to teach yet he has not finished high school...
