Why Socrates Was Not a Sophist

It is natural in life, as we grow to want to seek knowledge. Knowledge is the center of our existence and the key point in life that allows us to keep on breathing or adapting to our society. In 400 B.C. it was common to refer to a Sophist for formal education and it was also not completely unheard of to seek Socrates for knowledge. As years go by, our society changes through its advancements in technology or whatever the case may be, and for this we will always have a teacher or a sophist, who has a greater knowledge of the world, to instruct us into the right direction. Though many could say that the Sophists and Socrates where alike, there are too many differences that allows us to believe that this is incorrect.
Although, All the Sophists taught rhetoric, Socrates believed in the pursuit for truth. The Sophists were famously known for teaching their pupils rhetoric, the technique of making a weaker argument into the stronger argument. They were not concerned with the truth, but with making their opinions seem truthful...
