Salvation in Catholicism
Human beings are usually in some kind of unfortunate condition and may achieve an ultimately good state either by their own efforts or through the intervention of some divine power. There usually is a belief in a savior God, a God whose special concern is with the welfare of the human race. Salvation is the deliverance from the power and effects of sin. The belief that people need to be saved says that there is a problem which is common, and different religions have different views as to what the root of the problem is. (Smart 418). In all religions there is usually a path to take in order to achieve salvation and honor God in heaven, such that in Catholicism, Catholics have to go through sacraments in order to achieve salvation in their religion. While people are faced with death, pain, and sin most Christians believe that they may receive atonement for the previously mentioned so that they may become a servant in heaven to God. In Christianity as well as Judaism life stretches from birth or conception to death; then the question is raised about the status of existence after death, how salvation is achieved. Salvation is either attained or not and if salvation is not attained then at death a person is immediately destroyed or go to a place opposite of salvation which is damnationin hell.
