Shane is one western classic that basically meets all the all six elements for the genre. The setting is in the Southwest along the frontier, the mysterious drifter, Shane, is present, and he has his own values. There is conflict, involving land, which gets resolved, via Shane. There is also the presence of a forbidden love. This counters the "bang bang" personality of Shane with a more gentle appearance. In the end the land situation is resolved and the villains loose.
Shane is based on the novel written by Jack Schaeffer. It is a classic "sodbusters" versus cattlemen cowboy film. Shane (Alan Ladd) is a mysterious stranger determined to leave a life of violence behind. He finds peace working as the hired man on a small homestead owned by the Starrett family, Marian (Jean Arthur), and Joe (Van Heflin)...
