At first many could think Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are very similar, but they couldn't be any more different. Both Huck and Tom are adolescent kids who always seem to find themselves in sticky situations, and both always seem to get away.
First Huck Finn, Huck is very laid back and easy going, what you see with Huck is what you get. Tom would best be described by his actions; he's outgoing, popular, and quick thinking. A good way to compare both of them is that Huck Finn is characterized by the things he chooses not to do, such as turn Jim in, compared to Tom who can be characterized by the things he does, such as Jims elaborate escape plan.
Another thing to compare is Huck and Tom's outlook on life. Huck is a realist he lives in what's happening he doesn't like to make believe or pretend adventures and he sees people as real people and tends to care more about them than himself. Tom on the other hand lives a fantasy world of Arabs and magic lamps from the many books he reads. He cares only for himself but not intentionally is almost as if he sees everyone else as props or extras in his adventure world.
