Benjamin Franklin's The Autobiography, written in 1771, 1784, 1788, and 1789, is no doubt a literary work of art. Mr. Franklin basically tells of his personal development and moral tactics to make himself a positive being, even if it sometimes meant stepping on toes to do so. This is my take on The Autobiography, but as the saying goes, "Different strokes for different folks." Others have written their reviews on Mr. Franklin's work and their opinions ranges, but is not limited to, using this masterpiece as a tool of fighting sin, to venture into colonial times for children, a way to live life and achieve happiness, a self improvement tool, and some sees it as a rag-to-riches story of Benjamin Franklin.
Let us first examine the use of The Autobiography as a tool of fighting sin. In the piece Mr. Franklin stated that he had gotten uninterested in the Presbyterian Minister's way of preaching to the people. Basically, he felt as though he wasn't getting anything out of the services, henceforth him writing his pages of virtues and marking off his progress of each day...
