What is knowledge? According to the dictionary, knowledge means the state or fact of knowing, or the familiarity, awareness, or understanding gained through experience or study. Some modern philosophers who had debates in proving the theory of knowledge or epistemology included Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant. These philosophers often had doubts, but had a piece of knowledge and our own existence.
One of the first philosopher to seriously work on the field, epistemology was a rationalist named Rene Descartes. He raised the question of "what we can know, and how we know it." He had two theories which included the method of doubt and the method of inquiry. His method of inquiry was simply to prove what you find is right. And his method of doubt was to refuse to accept anything that is not 100% correct. For example if a person told me, that he saw an alien, and he brought pictures and books of it to prove his finding, then I wouldn't believe it because I have never seen one...
