The Solar system has been admired and fascinated by mankind for centuries. Many different cultures have attempted to grasp and theorize there thoughts on the night sky. The Mayans, Egyptians and the Greeks were all dedicated and devoted to the mathematics and the science of their surrounding universe. The Greek way, though was more logical, and put into a systematic manner. Using models and observations, the Greek methods eventually set the toe hold for modern day astronomy. Through this study of the energy and matter of the universe there becomes an infinite number of possible appliances and fields. In this genre of science today, there is still a vast land of questions. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA, was established for these questions and became the first to explore the moon, in 1969. Being a direct result of the cold war space race between the Soviet Union and the United States, this organization still launches and trains astronauts today.
