Opera is a very misunderstood genre of music. Fat Divas, glass, shattering voices, rich stuck up old couples flaunting their furs and jewels. These are just a few of the stereotypes of opera. Breaking these misconception has only begun to happen in the last half century. One woman who has contributed to this opera revolution is the infamous soprano Maria Callas.
Cecilia Sophia Anna Maria Kalogeropoulou, was born in the city of New York on December 2nd 1923. The daughter of Greek emigrants, would later become Maria Callas, one of the worlds most discussed operatic sopranos.
