Flannery O'Connor: A Good Man is Hard to Find
Mary Flannery O'Connor was born on March 25, 1925 in Savannah, Georgia she was an only child. She attended a grammar school and a heart parochial school until 1938 when she and her family moved to Atlanta, Georgia because of her father's job. O'Connor did not stay in Atlanta for very long she soon moved with her mother to Milledgeville where she attended public school. Her father, Edward F. O'Connor, stayed in Atlanta until he retired then he came and lived with them because of his newly developed disease of lupus. He later died of disseminated lupus when O'Connor was fifteen, in 1941
She attended Georgia State College for Woman when she was nearly sixteen. She majored in social sciences and she also wrote and drew cartoons for the school publications. She then graduated in 1945 and moved on to the Writer's Workshop at the University of Iowa where she received an M.F.A...
