EL SALVADOR
El Salvador is the smallest country located on the Pacific coast in Central America. To the left of El Salvador is Guatemala and to the north and east is Honduras. El Salvador is equal in land area to that of Massachusetts. The country of El Salvador is mostly mountainous with a narrow coastal belt and central plateau. El Salvador has three main land regions; the Central Region, where most of the people live; the humid Coastal Lowlands; and the cool Interior Highlands. The lowest point is the Pacific Ocean and the highest point is Mount Cerro El Pital. The capital and largest city of El Salvador is San Salvador.
Almost 6 1/2 million people live in El Salvador and the majority of people are of mixed Indian and Spanish ancestry and they are called mestizos.
