John D. Rockefeller and the Standard Oil Company
This chapter will show how the Standard Oil Company led by John D. Rockefeller revolutionized the oil industry and changed the way business was done. From the way that oil was refined and produced to how it was made available on the market to the public. Oil was quickly becoming a lifeline of the lifestyle with the innovations of the automobile and electricity. During a time of great and unprecedented change John D. Rockefeller was at the forefront when it came to the marketing and management of his product. Within seven years Standard Oil controlled ten percent of the oil produced in the United States. To better understand these accomplishments we will first look at the historical context, which made this possible for Rockefeller and his company.
