Literature as a whole isthe range of articulate human imagination as it extends from the height of the imaginative heaven to the depth of imaginative hell. Literature is a human apocalypse, man's revelation to man.
Putting a quotation from Northrop Frye in simpler context has proved to be as interesting as the quotation itself. Each word represents a meaning and each meaning allows for understanding. What Northrop is trying to say in his quotation is this: Literature is composed of casual words that prove to be prophetic. Understanding human nature is based largely on life and literature as well as the human mind and what it creates. Frye says in his quote "human apocalypse", an apocalypse is a prophecy or revelation. Both of those things predict or foretell. Using expressive language writers base their pieces on societal issues, human interaction, as well as personal thought and reflection. As a result this allows both the reader and writer to relate as well as comprehend what is being written...
