Great Gatsby Essay
In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby, light is a prominent motif. Fitzgerald relates light to the characters, tone, setting, and the conflict. There is a direct relationship between the changing of seasons and the development of Gatsby and Daisy's relationship. The novel starts off in the late spring just as it is starting to warm up and the days become longer. In the same way, Gatsby just learns that Daisy is in the East. Gatsby begins to rekindle his love for Daisy. As the novel moves on, the heat increases in both the temperature of the days and the interactions between Daisy and Gatsby. The heat builds until the hottest day of the year. Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby confront each other about who Daisy truly loves...
