This is a report on the movie The Alamo. It will address the larger-than-life legend of the Alamo, Davy Crockett, with the real human qualities given in the movie.
The man in the coonskin hat, Davy Crockett, quickly becomes the most colorful of the Alamo legends. Crockett, as well as Bowie and Travis, were challenged to re-establish reputations that had gone off track. He is first seen in a theater box, attending a play inspired by his adventures. The legend lives with the Mexican army as well. Santa Anna's men whisper that he can leap rivers in a single bound and wrestle grizzly bears to death. Crockett, with a regretful smile, proceeds to explain to the men that he did not do and cannot do any of those things. He forces the point that his reputation has a life apart from his reality.
