A committee in Louisville is pushing a proposal for a "Smoke-Free Louisville". If this legislation is passed, smoking in places including restaurants and bars will be illegal. This proposal was probably brought about after the same kind of legislation was passed in Lexington. They say that people who work in restaurants and bars are exposed to second hand smoke against their will. Basically, it comes down to what is more important: your right to smoke or the public's health.
Although I am not a smoker, I believe that a person should be able to smoke anywhere they want to. I believe this infringes on the rights of people who choose to smoke. I also believe that the owner of the establishment should ultimately have the final say if you smoke or not in their building. It is wrong for the owner to have to take the extra time to enforce this law. If someone gets caught smoking in their building, the owner is the one to get fined...
