WHAT IS HEMOPHILIA?
Hemophilia is a blood disorder that results in one or more of the clotting factors missing. It is one of the oldest known hereditary diseases. The gene for hemophilia is X-linked recessive. This means that females are carriers and males are generally affected.
There are two types of hemophilia. Hemophilia A lacks the VIII factor needed for clotting while hemophilia B lacks the IX factor needed for clotting.
