Introduction
Tobacco is the single most preventable cause of death and disease in America today. It caused more than 440,000 premature deaths annually in the United States during 1995-1999. It takes an enormous toll on our nation, not only killing our people but wasting more than 75 billion dollars per year in direct medical expenses.
