Patriotism
Patriotism can be defined as love for one's country, to support, serve, and defend, to be inspired by, to change for the better and to care deeply for its citizens. American citizens display patriotism in many ways. The flying of the American flag is one of the most commonly seen signs of patriotism. Although patriotism extends to other countries and nations, the patriotism of the U.S. has become very evident through the trying times that we have been, and continue to be, faced with.
When a nation is threatened, patriotism is what draws people together. It gives strength to stand up for beliefs and to protect our values. Without patriotism we would have no protection against terrorism and opposing countries who threaten our nation.
