The most important idea of the 19th century had been that everyone had the right to personal freedom. Which was the basis of capitalism.
In Britain during the late 19th century the middle class grew from being a fairly small and poor class to an well established middle class. That had a lot to do with the increasing trade between Britain and other countries. Britain was a leader and a role model for many and this was really a flourishing time for the British trade.
With this new wealth the living standard increased and people started to experience something they had never had before.
Being well educated became a trend and schools were established all over the country. The real breakthrough came in 1870 and 1891 when two education acts were passed. As a result of these, all children had to go to school up to the age of thirteen, where they were taught reading, writing and arithmetic...
